Memory Games for Adults and Seniors
A free memory game you can play right here. A few squares light up, you remember where they were and tap them back. Large squares, no time limit to answer, and you decide when each round starts.
10 rounds · play at your own pace
Some squares light up with a star. Remember where they are, then tap the same squares. You can miss once in every round.
Your result
- Rounds with all squares found
- Highest level reached
- Show time
Results with different show times aren’t comparable. This is a game for fun, not a memory test.
Brain Games for iPhone is free to download. Playing the games requires a subscription, and the price is shown in the app before you subscribe.
How to play
- Choose how long the squares should stay lit, then press Start the game.
- Press Show the squares when you are ready. Some squares light up with a star.
- When the stars disappear, tap the squares where they were, in any order.
- You can miss once in each round. A second miss ends the round and the game shows where the stars were.
- Press Next round whenever you like. After ten rounds you see your result, or you can finish early at any time.
On a computer you can also use the keys 1 to 9 on the small grid: they match the squares row by row, from the top left.
Built to be gentle
This game is deliberately calm. Nothing happens until you press a button, there is no clock while you answer, and nothing flashes or spins. The squares are large enough to tap comfortably on a phone, and every square shows what it is: a star while it is lit, a check mark when you find it, a cross when you miss. With a screen reader, the game also says where the stars are.
The game also adjusts to you. Start with three squares on a small grid. Find them all and the next round asks for one more, then moves to a bigger grid. Have a harder round and the next one steps back down. You always play near the level that feels right.
Choose your show time
Before you start, you choose how long the stars stay on the screen:
- Relaxed – 3 seconds. A calm pace, good for your first games.
- Normal – 2 seconds. A little more of a challenge.
- Quick – 1 second. The same show time as the game in our iPhone app.
There is no right choice. Pick the one you enjoy. If a game feels too easy, try the next speed up; if it feels stressful, go back to Relaxed.
Memory games for seniors
The game is built for comfortable play at any age. The text is large, the buttons are big, and you never have to hurry. You can play one round with your morning coffee or ten rounds in a row.
This is one of the free memory games for seniors that needs no sign-up: you just open the page and play. If you help a parent or grandparent with technology, this is an easy one to share: there is nothing to install and nothing to remember except where the stars were.
A tip for playing together: let one person play and the other watch the stars too, then compare who remembered more. It turns a quiet game into a small conversation.
How to read your result
At the end you see three things: how many rounds you completed without a second miss, the highest level you reached, and the show time you chose. There is no score to pass and no comparison with other people.
Results with different show times can’t be compared, because three seconds and one second are very different games. If you want to follow your own results, keep the same show time and play at a similar time of day.
What this game is, and what it isn’t
It is a short, pleasant way to keep your attention on one thing for a few minutes. It is not a memory test, it can’t measure or diagnose anything, and we don’t claim it changes your memory. Treat it like a crossword or a jigsaw puzzle: something to enjoy.
Where this game comes from
The game is based on Visual Memory, one of five games in the Brain Games app for iPhone. The app version uses a 3×3 grid, three stars and a one-second show time. This web version adds the choice of show time and the gentle levels, so it is a little different from the app.

- Is this memory game free?
- Yes. The game on this page is free and runs in your browser. The Brain Games app for iPhone is free to download, but playing its games requires a subscription.
- Do I need an account or a download?
- No. Just open this page and press Start. It works on a computer, a tablet or a phone.
- Are my results saved?
- No. Everything happens in your browser. Your results are not sent to us and are gone when you leave the page.
- Why do more squares appear after a while?
- When you find all the squares in a round, the next round gets one step harder: more squares to remember, or a bigger grid. If a round doesn’t go well, the next one gets easier again. This way the game stays comfortable rather than frustrating.
- Will playing change my memory?
- We don’t make promises like that. This is a game to enjoy and to keep your mind busy for a few minutes, not a treatment or a training program with proven results.
- Can this game tell me something about my health?
- No. It is not a medical test and it can’t say anything about your health. If you or your family are worried about memory, the right step is to talk to a doctor.
